CUSTOMIZING YOUR TM-210 RECEIPT FORMS

UniRes Receipt Forms and Report Forms are all customizable on site.

Be sure you have followed the previous steps for installing the printer and the Windows Printer Driver.

IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES DESCRIBED BELOW, CALL SUPPORT FOR HELP .

Do not attempt report design if you are not confident.

Note about Pictures & Logo's

A picture or logo can be displayed on the receipt form, but remember that the printer will only print using its 9 pin print head. Pictures will loose detail, so be sure to modify your logo picture to suit. A mono or black/white version of your logo with good contrasting features prints best on the receipt. The picture can be set to "Scale Picture - fill the frame". See Pictures and Logo's further on.

The supplied receipt forms are called ...

1.  TM210D_RECEIPTS_GENERIC

2.  TM210D_RECEIPTS_GENERIC_SHORT

The "short" one just prints less detail. Use the TM210D_RECEIPTS_GENERIC one.

The two sample receipt forms will now be in your C:\UniRes12\Reports\ folder with the rest of the report forms that UniRes uses to print reports, receipts etc.

We suggest you use the TM210D_RECEIPTS_GENERIC form and customize it for your requirements (later).

SETTING THE RECEIPT FORM PRINTER

1.Start UniRes (or Maximise UniRes if it is already running).

2.From the Command Centre - click on the Charges button.

3.Select a booking from the list who has a checked-in status of "Yes". We are goint to Reprint a Receipt, so we need a booking that has been previously receipted.

4.Now you should have a Bookingup on the screen with the Booking Details displayed and the Charge Lines showing. Your cursor should be in the Code column of the charge line area.

5.Press "R" to start the Reprint window.

6.Select a receipt number to reprint first.

7.Be sure a tick in in the "Use Generic Receipt Form" tick box.

8.Click on the "Customize" button.

The Report Form Designer window will open, ready for you to customize your receipt form. Do not change any of the form layouts at this stage.

If the form designer window is not "Maximized" click on the maximize Icon at the top right of your window.

Select and click on the "File" menu choice at the top of the screen.

Select "Report Page Setup".

The Page Setup window will be displayed. A representation of the receipt form will be shown in the area called "Page Layout". This should look like a long thin strip with black horizontal lines running down the strip.

Click on the "Print Setup" button.

The "Print Setup" window will open.

In the "Printer" area, select the Printer name that will be used to print the receipt. The name you gave the printer when the print driver was installed should be shown in the list of printers when you click on the "Name" drop-down list arrow next to the Name field.

Paper Size

The Paper Size should show ... A4 length 76 X 297 .

You will be asked if you want to "Save changes ...", click on Yes button.

The printer is now set as the default printer for the receipt form.

CUSTOMIZING THE RECEIPT FORM LAYOUT

Note that the following text and procedures for customizing a receipt form layout require you to be proficient at using Windows and is not intended as a tutorial for novice computer users or operators. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SOME BASIC CHANGES TO YOUR RECEIPT FOR FOR YOUR NEEDS, please call UniRes support for help. You can even email us your basic requirements or changes and we will be happy to do the changes for you and email them back to you. Of course, big changes will be chargeable, but minor changes are free.

Remember, if you think you have "stuffed up" the receipt form, don't save your changes when you close the form. If you have saved you changes and want to reload the original sample form, you can find the samples on the supplied UniRes Receipt Install Guide CD. Copy the forms from the CD back to the c:\cpbs\reports folder and remove the "read-only" attributes from the forms on the hard disk. Call support if you need help.

Ok, so you want to "give it a go". Good.

The form must be called up as described above for "Setting Receipt Form Printer".

There are a couple of Tool Bars that need to be activated (if they are not already open on your screen.)

Opening the Report Controls Toolbar and Layout Toolbar

From the top menu bar select "View" then click on "Report Controls Toolbar"

Repeat the above for the "Layout Toolbar"

Drag the toolbars to the top of the window so that they "Dock" at the top of the form, just underneath the Menu Bar. This gets them out of the way.

The Report Controls Toolbar is used to ...

Add Text to the Form.

Edit Text on the form.

Add fields to the form.

Draw lines on the form.

Draw Squares and Circles on the form.

Add pictures to the form (OLE).

Lock the current mode of the Toolbar (the Lock icon)

Adding Text to the Form

Click on the "A" Icon on the Report Controls Toolbar.

Click the mouse pointer on where you want to start adding text.

Type in the text.

Editing Text on the Form

Click on the "A" Icon on the Report Controls Toolbar.

Click the mouse pointer on where you want to start editing text. Note that anything on the form that is in the white area and is not "boxed" is a text area containing text. The boxes on the form are "Field" boxes which get the displayed text from data fields in you UniRes files. These data fields should not be altered.

Type in the text or change the text.

Selecting a Field or Text Block

When you click on a text block or field box, small black "handles" appear around the selected item. This means that the field is selected and can be acted upon with further commands.

Formatting the Text

Click and select a text or field box. (Black handles appear around the block.)

Fonts

Select from the top menu bar "Format" then select "Font". You can now change the font size and type.

Other Formatting Commands

If you are used to using a word processor, the commands should be familiar. Try some to see what happens.

Undo Command

If you made a change to the form and want to Undo the last change, select "Edit" and "Undo" from the menu bar.

Moving and Resizing Boxed fields and text fields

Click and select a text or field box. (Black handles appear around the block.)

You can now drag the box to where you want it using the mouse (click on the box and hold down the left mouse button while dragging it). You can also use the keyboard arrow keys to move the box or field text in small increments to a precise location.

For small mouse drag and drop operations, set the "Snap to Grid" off by selecting "Format" and "Snap to Grid" in the top menu bar.

Resizing a Box or picture

If the text in a box does not display all the text, the box may be too narrow. Select the offending box and grab the right black handle (small black square) and drag it wider.

The same method can be used to make the box taller or if the box is a picture object (like your logo), use the lower right corner handle to drag diagonally to size.

Changing a Fields Settings

Field boxes contain field definitions and program code commands to display information from your data files. DO NOT CHANGE THESE SETTINGS WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR SUPPORT CENTRE. Changing data field settings can make the receipt form inoperable and bring up errors in printing. If you do get a printing error after modifying a form, click on the "Ignore" button to enable UniRes to continue. If you click on Cancel if an error in a receipt or other form is detected, UniRes will close.

Only text fields and picture fields should be changed by the user if required.

Text field changes are described previously.

To change a fields settings, double click in the form field (or picture box).

Pictures & Logo's

A picture or logo can be displayed on the receipt form, but remember that the printer will only print using its 9 pin print head. Pictures will loose detail, so be sure to modify your logo picture to suit. A mono or black/white version of your logo with good contrasting features prints best on the receipt. The picture can be set to "Scale Picture - fill the frame".

Inserting a Logo on your receipt form

A logo is a picture "File". To inset a picture file, click on the "OLE" icon on the report controls toolbar.

Click on the place where the logo should appear.

The "Report Picture" window will appear.

In the "Picture from" area select "File" and then click on the box with the ... next to the field area.

An "Open" dialog box will appear allowing you "Browse" the folders and files on your computer.

Browse to the folder and select the file which is your logo or picture to display on the receipt.

Tick the Preview box to check if you have the right picture.

Now click on Ok button.

Now in the area called "If picture and frame are differen sizes ..." select

"Scale Picture, fill the Frame"

In "Object Position" select either "Float" or if you want the picture to stay in the same relative position, select "Fixed, relative to top of band". Which ever suits your needs.

Click on Ok button.

Note.

Pictures should always be inserted in the "Group Header" area of the receipt form. You can also insert a picture at the "Group Footer" position, but this is not common.

Never insert a picture in the "Detail" band as this area is the Item line area of the receipt form.

Drag the Picture to the required Size

After inserting the picture, select the picture and grab the lower right black "handle" and drag to size. See Moving and Resizing ....

Close the receipt form - save you changes and do a test print.

SAVE YOUR CUSTOMIZED FORMS

After creating your custom form, use the windows explorer to save your custom form to a USB memory stick or drive. There are two files associated with the receipt form, both files (.frt and .frx) files must be saved. You may need the forms again if you reinstall UniRes at any time.

UniRes support does not keep a copy of any modified client forms of any sort at their support centre after a user has received and is using the custom form.
