About the Activity Log File
UniRes maintains an Activity Log File called activity.txt . This is a standard text file which can be opened using the Windows Notepad, Wordpad, the UniRes Activity Log viewer or any wordprocessor capable of opening .txt files.
File Location
Single user installation
The activity log file is created in your default UniRes installation folder, usually called C:\CPBS\activity.txt .
Multi-user installation
The activity log file is created in your default UniRes installation folder on the main computer, usually called C:\CPBS\activity.txt .
Workstations also write to this file using the path set in the "Location of Server Company File" setting in the Company File Maintenance screen (See File Maintenance - Company File Maintenance).. (mnetpath)
Circular File
The Activity Log file is a circular file. It never gets full. When the file reaches 1000 entries, the first 500 (the oldest entries) are deleted so that 500 lines of "history" is always maintained.
The purpose of the log file is to record the Usage of UniRes, error messages generated - if any, and technical detail to help your system administrator identify problems with the operation or usage of UniRes.
In future releases of UniRes, the activity log may be expanded to include more detail. Although you can view this file, it is intended to be analized by experienced UniRes users and programmers.
