Simple Bus Tour

Linking a Booking to a Control Account

The simplest group booking scenario is where a bus tour pulls up at the booking office with a number of campers and an area of land is required for them to pitch their tent or tents for an overnight stay.

Charges will be on a per person basis.

The Park Manager has called the sites in this area "Tent Sites" with a Site Type Code of TS. There are 100 tent sites already defined in the UniRes Site Numbering File. Each Tent Site defined in UniRes has been preset to 2 Adults and 2 children (4 persons).

Area Pooling

The park manager does not care about allocating individual sites, but does want to have control over "over booking" the entire area.

To control the possibility of overbooking, a number of sites from the Tent Site area Pool of 100 sites must be allocated to the group.

Now we can make the booking. To do this, follow these steps.

To Make a Group Booking ..

1.Select Group Bookings from the Command Centre

2.Select a Master Account for the Group Booking or just press Enter to select the default SYSTEM account.

3.Enter Surname or Group Booking name.

4.Enter the details of the booking as you would for a single booking but do NOT enter a site number.

5.Press enter on the site number to display the Available Positions List.

6.Press Enter

7.Press Enter

8.Press Enter

9.Enter any Key Numbers then press Enter.

10.Now confirm that you want to book the sites.

And that's it!. The secret is in steps 6 to 8.

Steps 6 to 8

Step 6 is the Preselect Now button. This is the first button in a logical sequence of events. UniRes already knows …

How many persons there are in the group.

How many persons a site can accommodate (for the given area in this example).

So a pre-calculation determined that 5 sites were required ( 5 X 4 persons) to full fill the booking required space.

Step 7 shifted the selected sites to the Selected Sites list.

Step 8 is the Ok button and confirmed the selection.
