Define your Park

Refer to: Menu Bar - File Maintenance - Site Numbering

Most caravan parks have several different types of accommodation or areas for caravans and tents. A three character Site Type code must be given to define a group of similar sites and to enable UniRes to charge by the type of sites.

You should first make a list of the types of sites  you have in your park

Keeping in mind …

The basic differences in the accommodation structure..

Eg. I have …

oLong Term Powered Sites, Short Term Powered Sites, Tent Sites (Powered and unpowered) , Cabins - etc…

oUniRes Site Rates file can be set up to charge differently for each site type you have.

Numbering Sites

Sites in many parks are just numbered or are numbered according to a Physical Layout.

UniRes requires a Site-Type and a Site-Number to identify a site.

The Site Type is a three Character code and the number is a 4 Character/Number Code. Eg. LTV 1234

Although you must have a site-type code and a site-number for each "physical" site, the number is the most significant part of numbering scheme. The Type determines the Rate you charge as a group.

Individual site bookings can have a permanently allocated Custom Rate (see XX Rate) or a unique site type code, and therefore have a rate set in the rates file exclusively for their booking site fee. (See Alternate Site Type/Rate)

Setup Note: When setting up the new "Your Company" data for the first time, use the Setup Wizard to create your site numbers file. This will save a lot of time as all the sites are added to the site numbering file in one session. Don't be too picky on designing your site types and numbers as these can be changed easily later using the Renumbering facility (Menu Bar - Utilities - File System Utilities - Renumber Sites).

Eg. LTV 1234 where LTV might mean Long Term Van and the number is a physical site number. Site types and numbers can of course be shorter, but must have at least 1 character in each part of the site code.

We do not recommend using an alphabetical character in the Site Number part of the code as it can lead to confusion. Eg PV A123 could be interpreted as Type PVA in stead of PV with a number of A123. If your park uses a number beginning with a letter, consider renumbering your park.

Renumbering Sites

UniRes has a renumbering program called Renumber Sites which will allow you to reorganize your park numbering at any time. To get started quickly with UniRes, you will probably not want to renumber your park when you install and start using UniRes.
